The Entrepreneur's Guide to Building a Successful Business

Hi, I grew up in a family of entrepreneurs so it was not easy to stay away from starting your own business. I was not interested in the family business and took the opportunity to chart my own territory and gain financial freedom. While starting my journey, my father gave me all the practical knowledge while supporting my decision. He told me about a few essential steps for building a successful business. I must say that those words and learning have stayed with me. I know how to run my business efficiently because of those lessons. If you too wish to know about them, here is an article for your reference.   https://www.business2sell.com.au/blogs/strategy/the-entrepreneurs-guide-to-building-a-successful-business

'We are not Crown’: Words that haunt The Star as Maurice Blackburn launches class action

Image
A decade of assurances from The Star Entertainment Group (ASX: SGR) has come back to haunt the casino operator in a class action launched by Maurice Blackburn that has relied heavily on bombshell evidence given by senior executives during the Bell inquiry this year. The class action specialist has filed a 263-page statement of claim in the Supreme Court of Victoria that includes a hit list of past and present board members that Maurice Blackburn alleges were ultimately responsible for the company engaging in misleading and deceptive conduct, breaching its continuous disclosure obligations and conducting its affairs contrary to the interests of shareholders. The Star confirmed to the ASX this morning that it had been served by Maurice Blackburn with a statement of claim for a securities class action in the Supreme Court.  A Victorian building company facing legal action over alleged apartment defects has been awarded a $22,000 federal government grant to improve its business. Meanwhile, legal fees continue to mount for the apartment owners locked in an ongoing legal fight with the builder, Shangri-La Construction. In July, Melbourne woman Tamara Railton-Stewart told ABC's 7.30 that expert reports and legal fees alone had cost the 10 apartment owners in her building complex about $500,000.  The company denies the allegations against it and is defending its workmanship in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT). WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NET PROFIT AND RETAINED EARNINGS?

Image
Hi there, I have not worked in the accounting department ever before, so when I was asked to help the bookkeeper with his workload, I was apprehensive. It took me some time to adjust to the new environment, but I am good with numbers and calculations so did well. The best part is that I loved the work and learnt a lot over the past few months. The most recent learning has been the difference between net profit and retained earnings. I thought that they were same, but they are quite different. RE is calculated by deducted dividends from the net profit. To understand this in detail, do read the article shared below. https://www.agibookkeeping.com.au/what-is-the-difference-between-net-profit-and-retained-earnings/

Skyportz lays groundwork for a national vertiport network to host a 'green' transport revolution

Image
With the rise of passenger drones gaining momentum globally as some of the biggest aviation companies join start-ups to create the first commercially viable electlric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) vehicle, an Australian company has been working behind the scenes to lay the groundwork for a network of ‘vertiports’ to accommodate what is expected to be a personal transport revolution. Skyportz, a company founded and led by Clem Newton-Brown, earlier this month revealed the design for the first vertiport in Australia to service the emerging electric air taxi industry, identifying Caribbean Park, an office precinct located in Melbourne’s east, as one of the frontrunners in the new race to conquer the skies.
